The Right “Spunk”: Do you have courageous determination for success?

Spunk: noun
 informal | courage and determination.
synonyms | courage, bravery, valor, nerve, confidence, daring, audacity, pluck, spirit, grit, mettle, spine, backbone, gumption, moxie
From the move The Right Stuff, I think about do I have The Right Spunk? I would love to say everyday I am confidant with courageous valor to do what needs to be done! To have the grit to move my body, mind, and spirit even when they do not want to cooperate.
The Right Stuff
Yes, many of you who know me would wonder because I always show up ready to serve, learn, and lead. However, the past 20 months have given me a whole new perspective, mercy, and understanding for others who cannot move past where they are right now. Honestly, where you are right now is your perfection!
Part of my story: late 2014 to present day, I have been making a daring attempt to make my body do what I want it to do! With great determination in 2015, I ended up in a despair as my team of health care providers still could not provide root cause. I had no energy or focus, now at a time where I could not read a paragraph without having to go back and re-read it several times. Now, this was a HUGE cause of concern because I love reading, making notes, writing, and gleaning everything I can to make tomorrow better than today!
During this time I lost some spirit, confidence, and my daring pursuits of jumping forward with a tenacious spirit were at a stand-still. I am a private person and only those close to me knew where I was struggling and gave tremendous support. I was able to find a new physician who listened, supported my concerns, and we started a course of tests, natural remedies before drugs, and BEHOLD we found not only was I greatly mineral deficient my body was also not absorbing what I was eating or supplements.  Today I have a new normal, and still under care and treatments.
I lost great confidence in interacting with clients and community because I did not know if I would be able to show up. My energy levels and body would cooperate one day, and the next day could be a struggle to put shoes on. Or if I did show up it would be a shell of myself. Activities I love with my family, business, and community took a lot more planning because I had to schedule significant down-time afterward.
Why am I sharing and what does this have to do with success? Spunk has everything to do with your success! Empathy and understanding for those who have chronic illness! Empathy and understanding for those struggling in their business!
  • Advocate for your health! When a physician is not listening and you do not feel right about it, seek other help!
  • Come to where others are, you just never know what is going on. What I learned, it would be easier to explain a broken arm than a deficiency and treatment plan.
  • Advocate for your Business! Just as human bodies can have a time of renewal and illness, so can your business. Seek help, coaching, or a professional to get you to where you want to be!
  • Seek support and share where you are! When you open up, new resources and support will appear.
  • Be confidant in where you are today, and keep moving forward for a better tomorrow.
  • Trust your inner-circle to help support and sustain your business during times of lost spirit, confidence, and energy. this is your fast-track to get back on track!
  • From where you are today, tomorrow will always be a step up if you are willing to build on where you are today!

The rest of the story, I am doing well but only because I advocated for my health and business! I continue to invest in my business. I continue to plug into my inner-circle for accountability and sustainability for a better tomorrow. I am starting 2016 with my best year ever!

Dream Your Dream

Red Shoe Courage Workshop

Dream, Vision, and Plan beyond today!

In 2013 I had a dream, vision, and then made a plan and that was to share my story to lift others to a better tomorrow. As you grow up into adulthood the dreaming “button” gets hidden and I am here to tell you there is not such thing as you are too old to be a “dreamer”. We are NEVER too old to dream, vision, and plan beyond today.

This weekend I had the utmost pleasure and blessing to pour into a group of extraordinary ladies during the signature event From Grace to Red Shoe Courage. And the following is just one a few outpouring of Gods grace during the event as hearts were stirred up, spirits were lifted, and old truths were shed!

God delights in your purposeful passion. Dream your dream and change your today for the tomorrow’s God desires for you! “There is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live…This is the gift of God.” ECC: 3:12-14 NIV

This is a note posted regarding the event and my dream in 2013 was to serve those who love what I do, value what I do, and let me dream my dream.

I have so much fun being authentic of who I am and it lends to freedom of self. This picture is not of self-importance but an opportunity of spontaneity in the moment.

Pamela Dunn-Parish is who I use exclusively for my photo shoots. I found her shooting head-shots for all the members of a local non-profit women’s organization. There was no one waiting so I asked her if we could just do a few fun shoots while waiting.

October morning sun glistening on the morning dew,


Birds are harvesting and deer are frolicking


in the last days of our garden.


Fruit trees are shedding the weight of summer


preparing for a winters sleep.


Maples, aspen, and oak are quaking


waiting for the rakes keep.


Farmers and Ranchers are preparing for


next year’s harvest of seed and animal.


The air is fills my lungs with the promise of tomorrow,


fresh and crisp like the October apple.

Are you equipped to fail? Did you really just ask that question? Why yes I did, because failing is the equivalent of a college education. People are not defeated by the opponent; they are defeated within themselves.


Losing and failing is learning without the textbooks and final exams. Failing is real life innovation and creating new ideas no one else has failed forward into. You have to expect failure; it is what you do with it that makes a difference. First thing to remember is not to personalize it and start thinking like the chicken who always thinks the sky is falling. Your sky is not falling; you just failed to the next level!


Being equipped to fail is having courage to risk. Failure creates confidence toward the future you desire.

If you don’t, you will be resigned to a life of mediocrity. The people who don’t make mistakes end up working for those who do. Making a difference toward your Secret Success Sauce is getting up when no one else does. Simply, if you do not get up, it is your fault for not taking action. Most people think too small, play small, aim too low, and quit too soon. 


Equip yourself by letting failure point you to success. Do not play with the odds because very few are willing to get back up, so just get up and you will beat the odds. Again, perspective and expectations are important in keeping your momentum forward with purpose.


The last tool to be equipped to risk and fail is to maintain a sense of humor! Hold your head high, giggle, and laugh out-loud.  I have been able to bring the stories of my colossal fails and wins to the table to share with others and instill the mantra that—tomorrow does come!

What tools are you using to engage and ensure change is AWESOME?


I love—no I really mean love—the word FEAR! Several years back I heard an acronym of the word, and ever since then have fallen in love with fear.

If things go wrong do not go with them! Stand tall in faith, because tomorrow is another day toward formulating your secret sauce for success. 


So now you know that fear is false evidence that our minds appear to make real. Most of us are in sales one way or another, and what is the number one thing we do to create relationships? It’s those dreaded phone calls! People are afraid of the phone, because they are creating a false fear of rejection and of hearing the word NO. But here’s the scariest part: What do you do when you get a YES!!!


Don’t get me wrong. I believe that there are healthy fears, like not standing too close to the edge of a cliff without proper safety gear. However, creating your secret sauce to success has a dash of healthy fear and faith in your ability. 


“Fear creates a barrier towards action and discipline in reaching your potential. When you spend energy in fear, you have wasted an opportunity. “Fear not that your life will come to an end, but that it will never have a beginning” ~ J.H.Newman.


Focusing on what we can control brings a healthy expectation and perception of fear. There are so many people, places, and things not in your control, so stop worrying and being fearful of an outcome you have no part of. Mark Twain states this so well, “I’ve been through some terrible things in my life, a few of which actually happened.”

Door_Opportunity


No one likes change; very few understand how to lead it. One of the main reasons people resist change is the perception of loss, they take it personally. It is like that infamous statement, “the only person who likes change is a wet baby.”


Change is awkward, change rubs against tradition, and the timing maybe wrong. There is a guarantee of failure if change is not embraced when there is a need to do so. Without change there can be no creativity, innovation, and launch to the success you desire and deserve.

An optimistic person who has an attitude of adventure and tomorrow will come no matter what happens today is who you want on your team or inner-circle. The heart of success and creating your secret success sauce is you must give up something to go up. As we learn and glean new experiences to be better tomorrow than we are today we cannot continue to do everything or carry everything. This is where leading and delegating change comes to play toward your success.


    

  • What are items on your daily agenda that should now be delegated?

  • What fear is holding you back from accomplishing your next goal?

  • What time clock are you waiting for; the right times is now and not wait for everything to be perfect.

Attitude toward change is the difference maker in creating the future you want! Change can lead to those things we call PROBLEMS but I see problems as opportunities and not an obstacle. Problems are the gateway to solving and creating innovation. If you watch the show Shark Tank most products or services are solving a problem people or organizations have.


One of my previous clients was Wal-Mart and their culture embraced opportunity vs. problem. Their culture was every Opportunity Tracy Worleyproblem is actually an opportunity to solve and be creative in daily business. They continue this today so when you receive a call from Wal-Mart corporate (any position from executive to associate) they will state, “I have an opportunity.”This is another great example in practice of how one word can change your world.

I encourage you to look at problems as an open door others are not willing to walk through and create an original idea or product!
